New Delhi : To ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey for passengers returning to their workplaces after the Chhath Puja celebrations, Indian Railways has announced the operation of 6,181 special trains between October 28 and early November 2025.

Managing Festive Rush with Over 12,000 Special Services
During the festive season, Indian Railways is running more than 12,000 special trains across the country to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic. Major stations like New Delhi, Anand Vihar Terminal, Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Udhna have been equipped with holding areas featuring essential amenities. Railway staff are working around the clock to guide travelers and maintain order.

Enhanced Facilities at Key Stations in Bihar and UP
To manage the return rush, around 30 stations in Bihar—including Patna, Danapur, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Saharsa, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Samastipur, and Barauni—are being upgraded with:

  • Weather-proof holding areas
  • Additional ticket counters
  • CCTV surveillance
  • Extra coaches on existing trains

Stations in Uttar Pradesh such as Gorakhpur, Ballia, and Banaras are also part of this initiative.

Digital and On-Ground Ticketing Support
To further ease the travel experience, Indian Railways has expanded access to:

  • Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs)
  • Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters
  • Mobile Unreserved Ticketing System (m-UTS)

These enhancements aim to reduce wait times and improve convenience for passengers during peak travel days
