Uttar Pradesh : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a high-level meeting at his official residence to review the progress of the Jal Jeevan Mission – Har Ghar Nal Yojana. Senior officials from Namami Gange, Rural Water Supply Department, Jal Nigam, and various implementing agencies presented detailed updates. Representatives from key executing firms also attended the session.
December 15 Deadline for Tap Water in Every Home
The Chief Minister set December 15, 2025 as the deadline to ensure tap water supply to every household in the Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions. He emphasized that not only should connections be completed by this date, but third-party audits must also be conducted. Projects under Phase 2 and 3, which are nearly 90% complete, must be finalized in line with Phase 1 by the same deadline. Projects currently 75% complete should be finished by March 2026.
Clean Drinking Water: A Mission of Health and Dignity
CM Yogi reiterated that providing clean drinking water to every home is a top priority for the state government. He described the initiative as a mission directly linked to public health, women’s dignity, and quality of rural life. He assured that no compromise will be made on timelines or quality, and funding will not be a constraint at any level.
Addressing Field Challenges and Agency Coordination
The Chief Minister interacted with representatives from agencies including NCC Ltd, Larsen & Toubro, Megha Engineering, PNC Infratech, IC Infra, Power Mech, and Kalpataru Projects, discussing field-level challenges, pending work, payments, and quality control. He directed strict adherence to project timelines and standards.
Scale of Implementation and Future Plans
Officials reported that projects worth ₹90,223 crore are currently underway, comprising 63 surface water-based and 548 groundwater-based schemes. So far, 1.98 crore rural households across 85,364 villages have received tap connections, with regular water supply active in 34,274 villages.
The Chief Minister was informed that the Central Government is considering extending the Jal Jeevan Mission deadline to December 2028 and increasing project funding. He affirmed that the state will continue work using its own resources to ensure timely benefits for citizens.
Grievance Redressal and Public Engagement
Central government-appointed nodal officers inspected 147 schemes across 74 districts, with 132 found satisfactory. The state’s grievance portal https://jalsamadhan.in has received over 13.5 crore views and 62,688 complaints, of which 46,354 have been resolved. Complaints are also accepted via toll-free number 1800-121-2164. CM Yogi directed officials to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution of all grievances.
