New Delhi : The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi has officially inaugurated its upgraded Terminal 2 (“T2”), which will become operational from 26 October 2025, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation infrastructure.

- The terminal overhaul includes self-baggage drop (SBD) counters: passengers can scan, tag and drop luggage themselves, reducing check-in queue times.
- Six new passenger boarding bridges featuring autonomous docking technology (first in India) have been installed to improve aircraft turnaround and accessibility (including enhanced features for differently-abled travellers).
- Other enhancements: upgraded HVAC and fire-safety systems, brighter interiors with skylights, improved way-finding signage, modern finishes and better mobility access.
- Operationally, around 120 daily domestic flights by Air India and IndiGo will shift to T2 starting the intervening night of Oct 25-26.
