From Chaos to Coordination: Railways Deliver Seamless Festive Travel

New Delhi : Indian Railways has successfully transported more than 1.5 crore passengers this festive season, with numbers expected to surpass 2.5 crore by the time the festive period concludes. To manage the surge in passenger traffic, major stations in Bihar and neighboring areas of Uttar Pradesh have been upgraded with spacious holding areas to ensure a more organized flow of passengers.

In recent years, Indian Railways has made substantial investments in its infrastructure, leading to remarkable improvements. The number of special trains during the festival season has grown from a few hundred to an all-time high, accommodating the increased demand. Additionally, the railway network’s expansion has accelerated, with track construction rising from 400–600 km annually a decade ago to over 4,000 km per year today.

Passengers Praise Indian Railways for Smooth Festive Travel

Travellers have expressed satisfaction with their experiences, highlighting easy train bookings, well-maintained coaches, and efficiently managed stations. A standout feature this festive season has been the special services introduced to accommodate the increased demand.

For instance, during the Chhath festival, a dedicated Vande Bharat Express is operating between New Delhi and Patna. This first-of-its-kind initiative features traditional Chhath melodies being played onboard, adding a festive touch to the journey and enhancing the overall travel experience for passengers heading home for the occasion. This service is part of the broader initiative of 156 Vande Bharat Express trains currently running across the country, with the Patna-New Delhi service running alongside regular trains.

Passengers traveling from Jamalpur Railway Station in Bihar shared positive feedback, with one noting that the train was not overcrowded, thanks to the increased number of special trains. Another passenger praised the cleanliness and availability of facilities, saying they encountered no issues during their travel.
