Pollution levels spike as seasonal factors and firecracker use raise health concerns.
New Delhi : Air quality in Delhi and surrounding NCR regions has dipped into the “poor” category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). With Diwali approaching, environmental experts warn that the situation could worsen due to increased firecracker use, vehicular emissions, and stubble burning in neighboring states.
Authorities have urged citizens to opt for eco-friendly celebrations and limit outdoor activities, especially for children and the elderly. Measures such as water sprinkling, traffic control, and public advisories are being implemented to mitigate the impact. The Delhi government may also consider temporary restrictions if pollution levels continue to rise.
