Department of Posts and Russia Post Launch International Tracked Packet Service

New Delhi: The Department of Posts, Government of India, and JSC Russia Post have signed a landmark agreement to introduce the International Tracked Packet Service (ITPS), aimed at strengthening postal cooperation and supporting the fast-growing cross-border e-commerce trade between the two nations.

Key Features of ITPS

  • Provides a cost-effective and reliable logistics channel for low-value consignments.
  • Offers end-to-end tracking, electronic advance data transmission, and delivery confirmation, ensuring transparency and smoother customs clearance.
  • Designed to enhance security and efficiency for exporters and buyers alike.

Expanding Market Access
Russia is emerging as a major destination for Indian products such as health and wellness goods, apparel, jewellery, home décor, and MSME-driven items. With preferential delivery rates offered by Russia Post, India Post can now provide exporters with competitive tariffs, improving their global price positioning and market reach.

Support for Small Businesses

  • The Department of Posts, in collaboration with CBIC, has established 1,013 Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras (DNKs) across India.
  • A large share of postal exports originates from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, highlighting the growing role of small enterprises and individual entrepreneurs in international trade.
  • The ITPS initiative is expected to particularly benefit MSMEs, artisans, start-ups, and rural entrepreneurs, enabling them to sell on Russian e-marketplaces with dependable delivery timelines.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties
The agreement reflects the shared commitment of India and Russia to deepen trade relations, promote digital commerce, and enhance cooperation in postal and logistics services.
