PM Modi to Visit Surat Bullet Train Station on November 15 to Review High-Speed Rail Progress

Surat, Gujarat :
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the under-construction Bullet Train station in Surat today at approximately 10 AM, where he will assess the ongoing development of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor. This visit underscores the government’s commitment to fast-tracking one of India’s most transformative infrastructure projects.

🛤️ A New Era in High-Speed Connectivity
The MAHSR corridor, stretching 508 kilometers, is designed to connect key urban centers across Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. The route will link cities such as Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, Boisar, and Mumbai, significantly reducing travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to just two hours.

Of the total route, 465 kilometers—nearly 85%—will be built on elevated viaducts, minimizing land acquisition and enhancing safety. As of now, 326 kilometers of viaducts have been completed, and 17 out of 25 river bridges are already in place.

🏗️ Surat–Bilimora Section Nears Completion
The Surat–Bilimora stretch, covering 47 kilometers, is nearing completion. Civil works and track-bed installation have been finalized, marking a major milestone in the project timeline. The Surat station, a key node on the corridor, is being constructed with a design inspired by the city’s iconic diamond industry, combining aesthetics with functionality.

The station will feature modern passenger amenities, including spacious lounges, clean restrooms, and retail spaces. It is also being integrated with multi-modal transport systems, ensuring smooth connectivity with the Surat Metro, local bus services, and Indian Railways.

🌐 Economic and Regional Impact
Once operational, the Bullet Train is expected to revolutionize inter-city travel, offering a faster, more efficient alternative to road and air transport. The project is also poised to stimulate economic growth, enhance tourism, and create new opportunities for business and employment along the corridor.
