In a major boost to India’s high-speed rail network, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi on November 8 to inaugurate four new Vande Bharat Express trains. The launch is scheduled for 8:15 AM and is expected to significantly improve intercity connectivity, reduce travel time, and stimulate tourism and trade across multiple states.

The newly introduced Vande Bharat Express services will operate on the following routes:
- Banaras–Khajuraho
- Lucknow–Saharanpur
- Firozpur–Delhi
- Ernakulam–Bengaluru
These semi-high-speed trains are designed to offer faster, more efficient travel experiences while connecting key cultural, economic, and religious hubs across India.

Banaras–Khajuraho Vande Bharat Express
This train will cut travel time by approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes compared to existing services. It links prominent spiritual and heritage destinations such as Varanasi, Prayagraj, Chitrakoot, and Khajuraho, enhancing access to the UNESCO World Heritage Site and promoting religious tourism.
Lucknow–Saharanpur Vande Bharat Express
Covering the route in about 7 hours and 45 minutes, this service will benefit travelers from Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Moradabad, Bijnor, and Saharanpur. It also improves connectivity to Haridwar via Roorkee, supporting regional development in central and western Uttar Pradesh.
Firozpur–Delhi Vande Bharat Express
Expected to be the fastest train on this corridor, it will complete the journey in 6 hours and 40 minutes. The train strengthens links between Delhi and key cities in Punjab like Firozpur, Bathinda, and Patiala, potentially boosting commerce and employment in border areas.
Ernakulam–Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express
This southern route will reduce travel time by over 2 hours, completing the journey in 8 hours and 40 minutes. It connects major economic centers in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, offering a faster option for professionals, students, and tourists alike.
