Delhi/ NCR : The capital city of Delhi is witnessing massive preparations for Chhath Puja 2025, one of the most important festivals for devotees of the Sun God (Surya). The Delhi Traffic Police has issued special traffic advisories for October 27 and 28 as lakhs of worshippers gather at ghats to offer Sandhya Arghya (evening prayers to the setting sun).
Key traffic restrictions are in place in East Delhi, South Delhi, and Yamuna Ghat areas to prevent congestion. Authorities have asked commuters to use public transport, avoid major routes near water bodies, and follow temporary road diversions.
In addition to traffic control, municipal agencies have arranged for clean water, lighting, and medical facilities at ghats like ITO Ghat, Nigambodh Ghat, and Kalindi Kunj.
The Sandhya Arghya ritual marks the penultimate day of the festival, followed by Usha Arghya (morning prayers) on October 28. Devotees observe fasting, stand in water for offerings, and pray for prosperity and well-being of their families.
