Thirteen Senior Cadres Among 21 Maoists Who Laid Down Arms in Kanker

Kanker/ New Delhi : Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah expressed satisfaction after 21 Maoists surrendered with their weapons in Kanker district, Chhattisgarh, saying the development signals a step toward peace and rehabilitation.


In a post on X, Shri Amit Shah said 13 of the surrendered individuals were senior cadres and praised their decision to abandon violence and rejoin the mainstream following the Modi government’s outreach efforts. He urged remaining cadres still carrying arms to surrender promptly and reiterated the government’s target to eliminate Naxalism by 31 March 2026.

Amit Shah described the surrenders as a positive outcome of sustained security operations and surrender policies, and called for continued support to help former insurgents reintegrate into civilian life. He framed the event as an opportunity to strengthen local stability and accelerate development initiatives in affected areas.
