Indigenous Defence Technology Shines in Operation Sindoor, Says Defence Minister Rajnath Singh

New Delhi : ndia’s strategic reputation received a significant boost following the successful deployment of domestically developed defence systems during Operation Sindoor, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated at the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) Annual Session held in New Delhi on October 27, 2025.

Speaking on the theme “Defence Self-Reliance: Strengthening National Security through Indigenous Industry,” Singh highlighted how the Armed Forces’ use of homegrown technologies—such as the Akash missile system, BrahMos, and the AkashTeer Air Defence Control System—demonstrated India’s growing defence capabilities to the world. He credited not only the military personnel but also the engineers and manufacturers behind these innovations, referring to them as “industry warriors.”

Singh urged the domestic defence sector, particularly private enterprises, to intensify efforts toward self-reliance. He emphasized the importance of investing in research and development, advancing technology-driven manufacturing, and building robust supply and maintenance ecosystems.

Reflecting on the broader implications of Operation Sindoor, the Defence Minister called for introspection and preparedness. “This operation should be studied closely to guide future strategies. It reminds us that threats can emerge at any time and from any direction, and our readiness must be rooted in indigenous strength,” he said.

Addressing the shifting global landscape, Singh noted that rising instability and expanding conflict zones demand a reassessment of India’s security framework. He stressed that indigenisation is not just a strategic choice but a necessity in adapting to the evolving nature of warfare and geopolitical dynamics.
