New Delhi : In a move to improve transparency and commuter awareness, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has directed its field offices to prominently showcase details about the Local Monthly Pass and Annual Pass at all toll plazas under its jurisdiction.
Clear Signage for Easy Access
The information will be displayed on signage boards at strategic locations such as:
- Toll plaza entry and exit points
- Customer service areas
- Approaches to fee plazas
These boards will be visible both day and night and will feature content in English, Hindi, and regional languages. NHAI has set a 30-day deadline for installation across all relevant locations.
Digital Access via Rajmargyatra App
To ensure wider reach, the same details will also be available on the Rajmargyatra mobile app and respective NHAI project websites, allowing users to access pass-related information digitally.
Benefits of Monthly and Annual Passes
National Highway users can take advantage of two key pass options:
- Local Monthly Pass: Available to private vehicle owners residing within a 20 km radius of a toll plaza. Required documents include:
- Aadhaar card
- Vehicle Registration Certificate
- Proof of residential address
- Passes are issued at the plaza helpdesk after document verification.
- Annual Pass: Valid for one year or up to 200 toll crossings, applicable only to private vehicles (cars, jeeps, vans). It can be purchased via the Rajmargyatra App and is activated on the vehicle’s FASTag after a one-time payment of ₹3,000. This pass is accepted at over 1,150 toll plazas across India.
Enhancing Commuter Experience
This initiative reflects NHAI’s commitment to making highway travel more economical, transparent, and user-friendly. By clearly communicating pass options and procedures, the authority aims to streamline toll operations and empower commuters with accessible choices.
